Settor re-joined Harding Evans as a Partner in our Clinical Negligence team in December 2023, having previously completed his training contact with the firm in 2014. Upon qualifying, he moved to Bristol and worked at a large national firm of solicitors where he specialised in clinical negligence claims.
Following his return to South Wales in 2017, Settor worked for Legal and Risk at NHS Wales Shared Services where he dealt with all aspects of clinical negligence claims on behalf of Welsh health bodies, as well as providing training on all aspects of medical law to clinicians.
Settor advises in respect of a wide range of clinical negligence claims, including those of the highest value and of significant complexity. Some of his notable cases include:
- Settlement in the total sum of £18m in respect of a Claimant who suffered cerebral palsy following negligence at her birth.
- Settlement in the total sum of £11m in respect of a Claimant who was left with significant injuries as a result of a negligent delay in her delivery.
- Settlement in the sum of £2.5m in respect of a Claimant who was left with significant spinal injuries following a delay in diagnosis and treatment of cauda equina syndrome.
- Settlement in the sum of £575k in respect of a Claimant that suffered from Erb’s palsy following negligent complications at birth.
- Settlement in the sum of £550k following a delay in performing an appendicectomy.
- Settlement in the sum of £2m following a delay in diagnosis and treatment of cholecystitis.
- Settlement in the sum of £550k in respect of a Claimant who experienced a delay in diagnosis and treatment of his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Settor is also responsible for managing and supervising junior solicitors and paralegals within the department, and in his spare time enjoys playing tennis and football.
